Aarthi’s initiation into music started from the tender age of 3, where she learned from renowned local gurus Smt. Jayashree, Smt. Sumitra, and Smt. Bhagyamurthy. She also had the opportunity to learn under the guidance of Sri. Papanasam Ashok Ramani, under whom she learned various kritis of his own grandfather “Tamil Thyagayya” Sri Papanasam Sivan. She displayed great sharpness in memorizing lyrics, exploring and adapting to various ragas quickly at that age which was further honed under the tutelage under Smt. Padma Chandilyan, where she was able to build a strong foundation and appreciation for the art with the variety of repertoire and theory that she was fortunate to imbibe. Aarthi continued her music tutelage with Smt. Gowri Gokul who is a direct senior disciple of the late legend Sri. T.M. Thiagarajan. She was also under the able guidance and tutelage of renowned musician and scholar Smt. Dr. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam, who greatly broadened her repertoire and was instrumental in enhancing her finesse.

Aarthi Ravichandran has completed the 8-year Diploma at Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society which is a University of Madras-recognized BA Music equivalent, for which she was awarded the esteemed title ‘Sangeetha Visharad’ for exemplary performance. She was trained for the diploma under the tutelage of Sri T.P. Nishant, a senior disciple of Padma Bhushan Late Sri P.S. Narayanaswamy in November 2020. Aarthi also received the Best Student Award for her performance at the Certificate Level 5th year examination, which was judged and awarded by Vidwan Sri. Sriram Parasuram. She had the honour of achieving this accolade under the guidance of Sri N.R. Prashanth, under whom she continues to learn.

Aarthi is a Gold Medalist at the International Carnatic Musicians and Dancers Association (ICMDA) Competition and was awarded the title ‘Sangeetha Sironmani’ for winning the Gold medal. Having trained under the acclaimed tutelage of Smt. Padma Chandilyan, Smt. Gowri Gokul and Dr. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam, she is currently undergoing advanced training under Smt. Suguna Varadachari and Vidwan Sri A.S. Murali.

Aarthi had also been selected to perform for the esteemed Kalaa Utsavam Festival in November 2021 at the Esplanade in Singapore, under the mentorship of Padmashri Smt. Bombay Jayashri. She has been a regular face in the December Margazhi Music Season in Chennai, where she gives numerous concerts every year in esteemed sabhas such as Music Academy, Brahma Gana Sabha, Bharat Kalachar, VDS Academy and Nada Sudha. Her involvement in Carnatic Music is further motivated by her equally long-standing training in Bharatanatyam under Dr. Swarnamalya Ganesh in the Vazhuvur Bani, which has driven her to further her musicality by learning the Veenai under Sri. Veenai Parthasarathy and Sri Mudikondan Ramesh. Aarthi currently pursues the MFA in Carnatic Vocal Music from Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu (India).

Aarthi uses contemporary teaching methods which make Carnatic Vocal lessons very engaging for students. These methods help students get their fundamentals correct, and then helps them accelerate their progress soon afterwards.
