Arjun Srivatsav is a distinguished Carnatic music vocalist hailing from Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Under the tutelage of Karnataka Kalashree, Vid. Bangalore S. Shankar, he embarked on his prolific musical journey in 2001. Arjun’s performances have earned him widespread acclaim within the music community in India,USA and Canada,for his artistic skill, expertise and soulful renditions.

Arjun’s musical journey began at the tender age of six under the esteemed guidance of Guru Vid. Smt. Sudha V. Murthy, herself a disciple of Vid. Sri Belakavadi Srinivasa Iyengar and Vid. T. Sharadha. His parents, Vid. Smt. Chandrika Manjunath, an accomplished Carnatic vocalist and educator, and his father, Sri B.N. Manjunath, a prominent businessman, have remained steadfast pillars of support throughout his progress. He later embarked on advanced training under his guru, the venerable Karnataka Kalashree, Vid. Sri Bangalore S. Shankar, a mentorship he endures to this day.

Arjun’s initial exposure to music came through his proficiency in Mridangam, initially under the tutelage of Guru Vid. Sri Sethumadhavan, with subsequent advanced lessons from Guru Vid. Sri V.R. Chandrashekhar. It is noteworthy that his debut stage performance was as a Mridangam artist before transitioning to vocal music.

Achievements & Recognition:
Arjun’s exceptional talent led him to secure the first prize in a vocal music competition organized by Vimanapuram Kannada Sangha, Bangalore, in 1997. This early recognition instilled in him a sense of self-confidence and fortitude, winning over 300 awards and other subsequent achievements .

Arjun’s talents have graced a variety of stages including:

• 2013 Gayana Samaja Youth Festival.
• TTD Concert in Naada Neeranjanam & Uyyalothsavam.
• Concerts for ISKON and Chinmaya Mission Sri Krishna temple, for Janmastami, Ramnavami,Navratri and other festival celebrations.
• Participation in numerous Sangeetha Sabhas like Thyagaraja Gana Sabha, Naada Sannidhi, Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, Naada Surabhi, Vijayawada, Mysore Krishna Sabha, Malleshwaram Sangeetha Sabha, in India
• Performances for esteemed organizations in Canada and the USA, including Tamil Isai Kalamanram, Madhura Dhwani, Kalai Kovil, Nupura Academy (Chicago), LSDA (Raleigh), Kabir Centre (Montreal), Natyarpana (Milwaukee), and Sangeetha Bharathi (Dallas).

Arjun has garnered praise from numerous luminaries in the field, including Vid. Smt. Nagavalli Nagaraj at the Bangalore University Competition, Vid. Smt. Neela Ramgopal, and receiving the “Prathibhakanshi” award from the hands of Vid. Sri Nayveli Santhanagopalan, accompanied by commendation for his vocal prowess. Vid. Smt. Shyamala Bhave was so impressed by his singing that she introduced him to the eminent Music Director Sri Hamsalekha, under whose guidance Arjun contributed to several film projects.

In addition to his classical expertise, Arjun has excelled in Bhavageethe and Film music, securing victory in competitions and earning recognition for his light music performances, Devaranama renditions, and Vachanas recitals, all of which resonated profoundly with diverse audiences.

Arjun also embarked on an experimental musical journey as a member of “Antardhwani,” an acapella group led by the illustrious Sri Praveen D. Rao. This unique ensemble delved into the intricacies of sound recording and corporate presentations, notably including “Lunch Box” by Prakriti NGO. During this period, Arjun delivered a memorable performance under “Prakriti” in Bandstand Cubbon Park, an event that continues to be celebrated by audiences to this day.
He holds a distinguished position within the esteemed All India Radio. He has performed at marquee musical events and organizations, including Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Fort High School Ramanavami Pendal, Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, ISS Bangalore, IISc Bangalore, Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, TTD Naada Neeranjanam, IIT Madras, and other reputed Sangeetha Sabhas.

Arjun has lent his melodious voice to numerous successful Ranga Praveshams under the guidance of celebrated Dance Gurus in recent years.

Presently residing in Toronto, Arjun collaborates with Vid. Toronto Gowrishankar Sir, imparting his expertise to senior Mridangam students in the art of Carnatic music.
